Oral history interview with James L. Mirel, Dec. 2, 1999.

Mirel outlines his early life and education as well as his involvement in music. He tells the history of the klezmer musical group, the Mazeltones. In describing his career as a rabbi, Mirel discusses Temple B'nai Torah, where he succeeded Rabbi Jacob Singer as rabbi of a traditional reform synagogue. He discusses his involvement in interfaith work and mentions individuals with whom he has interacted. Mirel also tells of Sabbath services he has led at the Kline Galland Home. He describes the musical career of his wife, Julie, and mentions his recent book, Stepping Stones to Jewish Spiritual Living.
